Difference between ISO 8000 & 9001

ISO 8000 is the global standard for Data Quality and Enterprise Master Data
ISO 8000 is guiding standard and no organization can get certified. In ISO Standard labeling 000 is generally Vocabulary for that particular standard and 001 is requirement for organization to fulfill for respective standard. That done mean, organization can get certified on some defined standards (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 ETC..) upon certification body’s audit.
here are some examples of guiding standards such as,
ISO 20000 – Vocabulary for IT Service Management System
ISO 27000 – Vocabulary for Information Security Management System
ISO 21500 – Project Management
ISO 9000 – Vocabulary for Quality management system
ISO 8000 guiding standard describes the features and defines the requirements for standard exchange of Master Data among business partners. It establishes the concept of Portability as a requirement for Enterprise Master Data, and the concept that true Enterprise Master Data is unique to each organization.
The ability to create, collect, store, maintain, transfer, process and present data to support business processes in a timely and cost effective manner requires both an understanding of the characteristics of the data that determine its quality, and an ability to measure, manage and report on data quality.
ISO 8000 defines characteristics that can be tested by any organization in the data supply chain to objectively determine conformance of the data to ISO 8000.
ISO 8000 provides frameworks for improving data quality for specific kinds of data. The frameworks can be used independently or in conjunction with quality management systems.
ISO 8000 covers industrial data quality characteristics throughout the product life cycle from conception to disposal. ISO 8000 addresses specific kinds of data including, but not limited to, master data, transaction data and product data.

ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a Quality Management System. When an organization applying for ISO 9001 certification
a) Needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
b) Aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
All the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 are generic and are intended to be applicable to any organization, regardless of its type or size, or the products and services it provides.
